Our Vessels

In 2012 Star Fish Supply Ltd and it's subsidiaries Auric Star Fishing Ltd and Ahuriri Fisheries Ltd secured the fishing vessel Torea II, and our latest addition to the vessel fleet; fishing trawler Nereus, was purchased and refitted in mid 2017.

Both Torea II and Nereus are based locally in Hawke's Bay, predominately fishing inshore species and with smaller, independently owned day boats landing to us in Napier, we can ensure a steady supply of fresh fish for our loyal, nationwide customer base.

As a substantial inshore fisheries quota holder for Area 2 (Central East Coast, New Zealand) under the Quota Management System (QMS), Star Fish Supply Ltd is constantly working towards the sustainability, better fishing practices, and overall health of our precious fish stocks for future generations.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Torea II

Torea II has been a highly recognisable and well-regarded inshore trawler in Hawke's Bay, a 17m steel hull inshore trawler built in Wanganui. Previously easy to spot down West Quay wharf and out fishing within Hawke's Bay with a bright orange hull. In 2020 when she underwent her five-yearly survey she was repainted blue in keeping with the vessel fleet.

Nereus

Nereus was purchased in 2017, her history includes being previously operated as a scampi boat in New Zealand and Australia. When purchased she was converted to an inshore trawler. Nereus is Greek for 'The Old Man of the Sea' in a nod to our Greek heritage and a tribute to Basil Claudatos who's first vessel purchased was also called Nereus.

Sea Shag II

Sea Shag II is a small service vessel certified for debris retrieval for various businesses working around Napier Port and surrounding areas, helping keep shipping channels safe from collisions and assisting with clean ups after large storms and swells.
